Pat Connaughton Bio

Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, Pat Connaughton was a three-sport star athlete at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts. Along with playing quarterback, Connaughton starred on the basketball court and baseball field. When professional baseball seemed like the likely route for Connaughton, a dominant basketball performance at a national tournament in Orlando put Connaughton on the radar of top collegiate programs. Pat Connaughton was drafted by the San Diego Padres during his senior year of high school but decided to forgo professional baseball and sign with Notre Dame where he could play both baseball and basketball.

In South Bend, Pat Connaughton became a two-sport star for the Fighting Irish. After his junior year, Connaughton was once again a hot commodity in the baseball world with high ranking officials believing he could be a top pick. However, Pat was adamant that he wanted to return to Notre Dame for his senior season in basketball. Despite this, Connaughton was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 4th round with the team permitting him to finish his career at Notre Dame. In his senior campaign, Pat Connaughton led Notre Dame to their first-ever ACC Championship and to the Elite Eight where they ultimately lost to Kentucky.

After graduating, Pat Connaughton was determined to pursue professional basketball and after a stellar combine performance, his dream was soon realized. Connaughton was drafted by the Brooklyn Nets in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft but he was immediately traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. Connaughton became a prominent role player for the playoff contender Trail Blazers and played there for 3 seasons before signing with the Milwaukee Bucks in August 2018.

This past season alongside NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Connaughton set career highs in minutes, points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.
