Carsen Edwards Bio

Born in Houston Texas, Carsen Edwards was a two-sport star at Atascocita High School before he left football behind and started to focus solely on basketball. By the time Edwards’ high school career was over, he was a highly touted recruit and a top 100 player in the entire country. Carsen Edwards chose Purdue University and became an immediate impact player for the Boilermakers and a difference-maker in the entire Big Ten.

After a strong freshmen campaign, Carsen began to blossom into one of the best players in the country as a sophomore. A 40 point performance against Illinois buoyed the Boilermaker into the national spotlight and he was later honored with the Jerry West award.

By the time Carsen Edwards’ junior year came around, he was a national force and one of the best players in the entire country. After averaging over 24 points a game in the regular season, Edwards led Purdue deep into the NCAA basketball tournament where they knocked off the defending champion Villanova Wildcats after a 42 point performance from Carsen. After that game, Purdue ran up against the eventual national champion Virginia Cavaliers but it took last-second heroics and an overtime period for the Cavaliers to upend Carsen Edwards’ second straight 42 point performance. After his historic run, Edwards tied with NBA star Stephen Curry with the 3rd most 25-point games in a row in NCAA tournament history with 5.

Carsen Edwards decided to forgo his senior year and enter the NBA draft where he was drafted with the 33rd pick by the Philadelphia 76ers but was immediately traded to the Boston Celtics. Carsen Edwards now operates as a backup to All-Star guard Kemba Walker and also spends time as the go-to player on Boston’s G-League affiliate team, the Maine Red Claws.
